Treatment with plant extract for one month brought about
reduction in level of anxiety, adjustment disability, leading to improved mental function.
Levels of urinary V.M.A and corticoids were also reduced. Thus, drug appeared to have
anti-anxiety agent property2. |
| THERAPEUTIC
USES |
Traditional
application suggests that it has a direct effect on improving brain functions, increasing
concentration, and in promoting memory functions.Bacosides are believed to play a
protective role in the synaptic functions of the nerves in the hippocampus, the seat of
memory Nerve impulses are transmitted across the synapses and their degeneration is
believed to contribute to impaired memory and cognition. Clinical studies performed in
India confirm that the bacosides can revitalize intellectual functions in children and
reduce anxiety in stressed individuals thereby contributing to improved brain functions3,4. |
