| Mr. G.S.Raju, was born in a family of freedom
fighters in a small village in Andhra Pradesh. He took his M.S. Degree in the University
of California, Medical Centre, Sanfrancisco, U.S.A after obtaining the Bachelor of Science
Degree from the Banaras Hindu University. He is also an awardee of the "Fellow of the
American Council for Pharmaceutical Education". INDUSTRIAL ACTIVITIES: After completion of his studies, he traveled round the world, and as an industrialist, he began his career in the year 1950, and started SOUTH INDIA RESEARCH INSTITUTE PVT. LTD., a pharmaceutical formulations manufacturing Company at VIJAYAWADA, which is popularly known as SIRIS. Since then, he has established several other industries in Andhra Pradesh, and he is the Chairman of all the SIRIS Group of Industries, viz.,
POLITICAL ACTIVITIES: From the childhood, Mr.G.S.Raju was always inspired by the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. Being further inspired by the Stature and dynamism of Pdt. Jawaharlal Nehru, he became an active member of the Congress Organisation in the year 1950 after his return from U.S.A after completing his education, and since then he was serving the Congress Organisation continuously without any break. Mr.Raju had the privilege of hosting Pdt. Jawaharlal Nehru, the then Prime Minister of India, in Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) in the year 1959 in the factory premises of South India Research Institute Pvt. Ltd. As a true Congressman, Mr.Raju served the Congress Organisation as the PRESIDENT of Vijayawada City Congress Committee ( Dist. Congress) for a period of 10 years from 1958-1968 continuously, during which time, he strengthened the Congress Organisation in the city by leaps and bounds. Mr. Raju. was nominated by the Government for the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council , and later he served the Legislative Council as its first DEPUTY CHAIRMAN for a full term of six years from 1958- 1964. He was the CHAIRMAN of Amaravati Seema Urban Development Authority,VIJAYAWADA during 1981-82. He worked as the Congress (I) corporator of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation from 1981-1986, and as the leader of the Opposition. He was serving the public as the PRESIDENT, Vijayawada City Congress Committee, and he voluntarily retired to give the place to a Harijan, to gain the support of Harijans, Backward class and schedule castes during the elections. Seeing that the Congress Organisation was very weak at the gross root level, Mr. Raju worked for several years to strengthen the Congress Organisation without aspiring for any post either in the State Legislature, or in the Parliament. He was sent by All India Congress Committee (I) to Maharashtra in the Lok Sabha elections in the year 1990, and a report was given by him to the then President of AICC, Sri Rajiv Gandhi. Mr. Raju's active service in the political field has resulted in his close association with Pdt. Jawaharlal Nehru ; Smt. Indira Gandhi; Sri Rajiv Gandhi; Sri Morarji Desai; Sri P.V.Narasimha Rao-the former Prime Ministers of INDIA, and also with Babu Rajendra Prasad ; Dr. Zakir Hussian; Dr. Sarvepalli Radha Krishnan; Dr. Neelam Sanjeev Reddy, Sri. Jnani Zail Singh, Sri. Fakruddin Ali Ahmed and Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma - former Presidents of India. SOCIAL ACTIVITIES: Mr. G.S Raju served the three leading Organisations as PRESIDENT viz.,

SPIRITUAL ACTIVITIES ; From the childhood , Mr. Raju had a strong desire to divert his mind on the spiritual side. He associated with the Chinmaya Mission as its first Secretary; as an Advisory Board Member of Andhra Pradesh for Satya Sai Seva Samithi. He is now serving as
He is a staunch believer of Transcendental Meditation, as a result of which , he introduced Yoga & Meditation in his Industries , and all the employees practice Yoga & Meditation in a big hall specially constructed in the Factory premises at VIJAYAWADA , every day during working hours. Attached to this, a Psycho -Physiological Laboratory with sophisticated electronic equipment is established, to test the depth of the meditation. |
