| PHARMACOLOGY |
The fruit extract showed
selective anthelmintic activity against cestodes2. Piperine displayed CNS depressant
activity in mice, antipyretic effect in rabbits given typhoid vaccine, and analgesic
activity in tail clip pressure in mice3.
It also showed febrifugal activity in rats4.

| THERAPEUTIC
USES |
It is prescribed in dyspepsia,
flatulence, diarrhoea and as a febrifuge in intermittent fevers5. It is also indicated
in viral hepatitis6. |
